The Secret Circle centers on Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson), a normal teenage girl who's mother Amelia dies in a fire. She moves in with her grandmother Jane (Ashley Crow) to Chance Harbor, Washington. When she arrives, Cassie realizes that everyone knows more about her than she knows herself. When she gets to school, she meets a wide variety of friends including Diana (Shelly Hennig) and her boyfriend Adam (Thomas Dekker), a Loner named Nick (Louis Hunter) and mean-girl Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) and her sidekick Melissa (Jessica Parker-Kennedy). Strange and frightening things begin to happen in the little town when they tell that they are descendants of witches.

At first, Cassie refuses to believe them until Adam shows her how to unleash the power that has been dormant for many years. She discovers that she has a destiny when she finds an old book in her mother's bedroom. However, there is something more sinister that are linked to the adults in the town and she starts to wonder if her mother's death was an accident after all.
